Kick driver’s fatigue to the kerb on a date with Mother Nature.

Bordertown Recreation Lake has walking trails that take you past three public artworks and you can also canoe here or fish for yabbies, redfin, and perch (but swimming is not permitted).

Poocher Swamp, on Cannawigara Road (13 kilometres west of Bordertown) is a spectacular wetland full of wildlife, birds, and mature   river red gums. Uncover the mystery of the region’s runaway holes in Poocher Swamp, where water flows through a hidden, underground network   of limestone cavities to provide Bordertown with fresh water.

Still feeling energetic? Mt Monster Conservation Park, 14 kilometres south of Keith, is a great place to take in a spot of bush walking. Climb the gentle slope to the granite outcrop and picnic area, explore the Gwen Ellis Walking Trail (from which you can spot Sugar Loaf Hill), appreciate the panoramic views and rock pool – a popular spot for weddings.

Christmas Rocks (on the Riddoch Highway towards Willalooka) is a five-minute walk to the top of ancient granite rocks and guarantees   cracking views.

Got more time? Ngarkat Conservation Park’s 270,000 hectares of vegetated sand dunes, mallee and heath is home to walking trails and plenty of wildlife including more than 120 species of birds. Mundulla is home to Moot Yang Gunya Swamp’s walking trail and reserve.

You can also take a swing at Keith and Bordertown’s golf courses, enjoy a roll at our croquet and bowling greens, visit the gliding club, take a dip in our outdoor swimming pools, play squash or tennis, or   cheer on the local basketball, netball and football teams. This region loves sport!
