Eat & drink

Fill up on pies, sausage rolls, and vanilla slices or head for a café to enjoy a long lunch and fresh brewed coffee.

The beating heart of a rural community can often be found in the local bakery – and this region is home to many, including the Keith Bakery, Bordertown Bakery and Morning Loaf Bakery.

Keith's Henry & Rose Café doubles as a gift and flower shop, Bordertown’s Ruby Tuesday sells homewares, and Cafe La Vie baristas serve Amanti Coffee to help fuel the long drive ahead.

The pubs are beaut, too. The Old Mundulla Hotel is particularly worth the drive. The beautiful old building has multiple roaring fireplaces, a wonderful beer garden and history that dates back to 1884.

If handmade goodies are your thing, Tatiara Work Centre Bordertown is a delightful place to visit for jam, chutney, condiments, cakes, biscuits, sausage rolls, take-home dinners, indoor plants, and delightful souvenirs. It’s all made and grown by locals and prices are astonishingly reasonable.

Wine lovers should make time to visit Padthaway, where Farmer’s Leap Wines is perched on a hilltop overlooking an olive grove and vineyards, offering great wine and nibbles.

We always stop for a pastry or two at Keith while travelling to Melbourne for a Crows away game
